Awake

I have been having interesting experiences in the middle of the night. I suddenly wake up with complete clarity as if I wasn't even asleep and I am fully present. It usually doesn't take long for my mind to try and interject, but the other evening I was able to stay present and go deeper into the experience, but I suddenly became fearful and I felt like I was pulled out of it by my fear. I think the fear came from not knowing what was happening or how I got there. So I practiced a simple meditation. I don't know if I can actually explain what it feels like, but it's unlike anything I've experienced. I believe I have experiences while I'm sleeping that I can't remember when I awake. About 3 times I have awoke with the image of a mandala in my minds eye. The first 2 times I immediately started talking myself out of the experience. The third time I held the image and looked at it's incredible detail before it faded.

Last night I awoke again. It was sudden but gentle in that I could still detect the dream I was having but I was suddenly fully conscious. I laid there feeling the experience. I looked to the clock, and this has never happened but the clock started flashing and beeping. It's a battery powered clock that you tap and it lights up while beeping once. It kept lighting up. I started wondering if somehow I was doing it. But I quickly dismissed that idea. It went for a little longer then stopped. I just laid there trying to understand what had just happened. Had the clock been beeping and that's what woke me up? Am I somehow causing the clock to do this? Is there a presence trying to communicate with me through the clock? Is the clock broken? Am I crazy? If it's me than maybe I can get it to do it again. Nope no luck. I thought about waking my husband. It started again. I actually tried to detect some sort of pattern in it's random beepings before it stopped again. I laid there in silence for a while. Trying to clear my head. I decided to try to make it light up again this time believing it was me who had caused it in the first place. It indeed began beeping and flashing immediately. It stopped.  I fell back asleep.
I still don't know what to conclude. But I am leaning toward it being a malfunction of the clock. I don't know.

Good stuff, yes it was you. I think though if you would have woken your husband the phenomena may have disappeared, it's easy to create (project) your own experience, but to effect a shared experience is really something. Try it next time. Everything is you in reality.
